Before Baz Luhrmann and Francis Ford Coppola, F. Scott Fitzgerald himself scripted a silent version of The Great Gatsby in 1926. This is the only surviving footage.
How sad that this is lost. It would have been a pleasure to see Fitzgerald’s take on Gatsby as a film.
